Day On The Green For Brain Cancer
Sunday 29th of October 2017 was a day I will remember for the rest of my life.
It was a day of fun, Live music, laughter, Food, Drinks, Prizes and giveaways, Happy Tears, Donations and Great Spirit as a bunch of amazing like-minded humans gathered for a great cause… BRAIN CANCER AWARENESS!
The estimated mortality rate for brain cancer in 2018 in Australia is around 1435 people. From previous years, this is rising. Personally, I know of 3 people that lost their fight with this aggressive disease in 2017.
Good friends mine, Donna & Ian Davis decided to put together this successful event “Matt’s Day On The Green For Brain Cancer” after their son had spent the past 12 months battling with the disease. Thankfully, early diagnosis, treatment and strong willpower saved his life.
The event was held on Donna & Ian’s beautiful 5 acre property in Chandler. The Davis family asked if I would like host the event and entertain the 500 plus expected crowd with my live tunes. I had already planned to take off on an adventure around Australia with my partner and baby Jasper, a week prior to this date on the 21st. How could I say no to such a great cause?
With 8 hours to fill with entertainment, we rained in the super talented Sarah Booker and Caillin Malley to come pump out some more live tunes.
We had huge support from the Mark Hughes Foundation, Royal Brisbane Woman’s Hospital as well as an overwhelming amount of local businesses, teaming up to donate prizes for the raffle. All proceeds went towards Brain Cancer Research. There were over 70 amazing prizes to give away. Some even got re-auctioned.
The total amount raised on the day was $17473.86!
I would personally like to thank everyone involved in this event. Without your support and generosity, it could not have been this successful.
